A similar censer is illustrated by Brinker and Lutz, Chinese Cloisonné: The Pierre Uldry Collection, Asia Society Galleries, New York, 1989, no. 54.
Also in the same book, nos. 56 & 197 are illustrated with similar upright dragon handles.
It is unusual to find elaborate handles such as these on vessels from the 16th Century. Handles of this design would generally be more associated with the 18th Century. It is possible therefore, that these handles were fitted on the censer in the 18th century.
