    Compare the similar thick-walled rhinoceros horn cup carved around the sides with magnolia blossoms and buds as well as fruit borne on branches that form an openwork base illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 44 - Bamboo, Wood, Ivory and Rhinoceros Horn Carvings, Hong Kong, 2002, no. 112, where it is dated early Ming dynasty.
