The crest (a greyhound sejant or, collared azure, resting the dexter foot on a mascle argent) is for the Norcliffe family of Langton Hall, Yorkshire. The crest is most probably for Major General Norcliffe Norcliffe (1791-1862 ), who inherited the house and estate of Langton Hall on the death of his father Colonel Thomas Norcliffe (previously Dalton), in 1820.

    Special Notice

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 15% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.

    Provenance

Almost certainly Major General Norcliffe Norcliffe (d. 1862), Langton Hall, Yorkshire.
