    Enamelled on one side with the arms of Trevor impaling Weldon, surmounted by a dragon crest, the other sides with various scholar's utensils, double-gourd vessels and pomegranates amidst flower sprays

    The first Baron Trevor of Bromham became Solicitor General, Attorney General, and in 1702 Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas, before being created Baron in 1711. He was later Lord Privy Seal and Lord President of the Council and died in 1730. In 1704 he married his cousin Anne Weldon of St. Lawrence Jewry, London.

    An identical mug was sold Christie's, London, 7 April 1997, lot 1, after having been in the collections of the Rt. Hon. Lord Stafford, J.J. Howard, and F.A. Crisp. Also see the Benjamin F. Edwards III Collection, Christie's, New York, 20 January 2004, lot 266.
