    A Satsuma vase and cover, signed Tomonobu, Meiji Period (1868-1912)
    decorated in enamels and gilt and moulded in relief with active Rakan in a rocky landscape amidst pine, discussing, blessing, receiving gifts from an oni and a tengu reaching down from a cloud with an offering, Handaka Sonja with his bowl and dragon, Sohinda Sonja with his goat, the foot, shoulder and cover with lappets of scrolling karakusa, the finial with a chrysanthemum, signed to the base below a Shimazu mon Dai Nippon Satsuma yaki Tomonobu; and another vase with three Chinese officials beneath a pine, the base fitted as a lamp and drilled to the side, signed -- the first 15in. (38cm.) and 12in. (30.5cm.) high. (2)
