The present part service, originally part of a larger service of some 348 pieces made for Elector Wilhelm II of Hesse-Kassel, is described in the factory's archives as Service botanique 'couronne de fleurs' pour la Hesse and as delivered in stages to M. de Schaumbourg between August and December of 1830 with a final shipment in March of the following year. A large part of this service is retained at Schloss Fasanerie, originally a palace and hunting lodge outside the town of Fulda and now a museum housing much of the family's extensive art collection. For a discussion of the service, see M. Miller, et al, Königliches Porzellan aus Frankreich, Sammlerstüke und Service der Manufaktur Vincennes/Sèvres, 1999, pp. 89-133; also L'Estampille - Objét d'Art, June 2005.
