    Kitae [forging pattern]: close ko-itame
    Hamon [tempering pattern]: tight suguha predominantly of nioi with some ko-nie

    Nakago [tang]: ubu, sujigai with kesho file marks, one mekugi-ana, abrupt kuri-jiri tip
    Habaki [collar]: single silver-clad copper
    Nagasa [length of blade]: 70.3cm
    Koshirae [mounting]: katana saya, tsuba, and two seppa only, the saya black lacquer with stylized clouds design, the upper 20cm or so with alternating wide red and thin black bands, squared mokko iron tsuba with two trefoil piercings

    Koshirae [mounting]: tsuba-gatana mounting, the black lacquer simulating wood grain, fuchi-kashira of plovers over waves in gold, silver, copper, and shakudo inlay on a shibuichi ishimeji ground, menuki of plum blossoms on twigs in shakudo with gold details, kurikata of shakudo nanako with a phoenix in gold inlay, oval iron tsuba (2)

    The second probably Nakayama Goro Minamoto Yoshizane, a pupil of Hosokawa Masayoshi active just prior to the Meiji restoration.
