Circular, with a shaped rim, carved throughout with interlaced scrollwork in the Old Russian style, the border and cavetto mounted with enameled roundels depicting the Tsars and Emperors of the Romanov dynasty, from Mikhail Fyodorovich to Nicholas II, each roundel flanked by silver plaques inscribed with the name and reign of the Sovereign, the centre mounted with an enameled silver crowned coat of arms of the city of Nizhniy Novgorod above a silver plaque chased with a view of the city, all within a carved dedication inscription in Russian 'From the Nizhegorod Municipal Duma in memory of three hundred years of the House of Romanov, from the loyal subjects of Nizhegorod' the reverse with the carved inscription in Russian 'Arkhitektor N.M. Veshnyakov' and affixed with a paper label inscribed 'III. 28', the silver apparently unmarked
