    The bowl formed as a turtle, the eyes set with red glass, the cover with handle formed as a baby turtle, marked on base; together with a silver-plated bell of Hizen pattern, cast with turtles in swirling waters, the handle formed as figure, marked on interior rim of bell

    A set of eleven silver terrapin bowls in the form of a turtle and made by Gorham in 1890 sold in these Rooms, October 19, 2004, lot 113. Another matching terrapin tureen, also dating to 1890, is illustrated in Charles H. Carpenter, Gorham Silver, 1997, p. 105, no. 127.
