    Of bottle form, decorated in the Kakiemon style with panels quatrefoil cartouches of enamelled flowers divided by karakusa scrolls
    6¼ in. (15.8 cm.) high

    When viewed from the front, the silver finial appears to be the letter A or a combination of the letters A and V, for aqua and vino. It was possibly used to contain holy water, wine or oil. A pair of similar oviform ewers were sold in our London rooms, 28 October 1987, lot 63.
