    SONG DYNASTY (960-1279)

    With shallow rounded sides, the interior delicately carved with four large peony blooms separated by leafy vines, reserved on a yellow lacquer diaper-ground, between key-fret bands at the rim and around the raised central platform, the exterior with a stylised lotus petal band, the rims, the central platform and base applied with black lacquer

    Compare with similar comb-like texturing to the flower petals on two dishes dated to the Song dynasty from the same collection: the first, a lotus scroll dish sold at Christie's Hong Kong, Important Chinese Lacquer from the Lee Family Collection, 3 December 2008, lot 2108; and the other also from the Lee family collection, with tea-rose scrolls, included in the present sale, lot 1806.
