    NORTHERN SONG DYNASTY, 11TH CENTURY
    Of rounded conical form, the deep sides carved on the exterior with a wide band of three layers of overlapping petals below a line border, covered inside and out with a glaze of greyish-olive color which also covers the base, the foot burnt brown in the firing
    5 3/8 in. (13.8 cm.) diam.

    A very similar Yaozhou carved bowl in the National Palace Museum, Beijing, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 32 - Porcelain of the Song Dynasty (1), Hong Kong 1996, p. 125, no. 111.
