    VIENNA, CIRCA 1890, MAKER'S MARK KB, PROBABLY FOR KARL BOHM
    The circular basin with central circular lapis lazuli boss and radiating curved panels of lapis lazuli applied between with demi-female herms supporting baskets of fruit above their heads and with vases of flowers, female masks, grotesque male masks and strapwork above, hung between on the outer border with winged griffins and fruit and floral garlands, the rim and lapis panels bordered with white enamelled bands with guilloche pattern and gilt, the ewer of octagonal baluster form on spreading foot and with curved lip and openwork bifurcated scroll handle, applied with mermaid figure, the body inset with panels of lapis lazuli with white enamel borders with guilloche ornament with grotesque mask with winged griffin, strapwork, fruit and foliage borders all enamelled with orange, pale orange, blue, green and pink, each piece marked underneath
    the basin 19 1/8 in. (49 cm.) diam.
