    With angular scroll handles and applied central girdle, decorated above and below with applied scrolls, buds, pendant foliage and bearded masks, the foot chased with basket-weave diaperwork, the cover with gadroon rim, chased guilloche band and knop finial, inscribed underneath the foot This cup is a copy of one given by George III to the Marquis Townshend, a further presentation inscription around the cover dated 1906
