Of rounded form with pronounced central omphalos, the thickened rim with flat top engraved with rope-motif, the sides with a broad band of engraved lotus meander on a ring-matted ground, the raised centre with three running hares on a similar ground, their ears linked, centre with green patination

Lot Essay

The form of this bowl is better known from later Ottoman silver vessels of the 16th century, but the form of the lotus scrolls around the sides coupled with the hares with their conjugal ears both indicate that an Ilkhanid origin is more probable.
