    AN UNUSUAL MUGHAL-STYLE GREEN JADE LOBED SHALLOW BOWL
    18TH/19TH CENTURY
    Raised on four shallow ruyi supports, the sides divided into twelve lobes with plain upper border centered by a pendent trefoil motif and with inner borders of narrow petal tips creating a V-shape at the edge of each lobe, the interior conformingly ribbed, the pair of chrysanthemum stem handles projecting from the rim suspending loose rings, the semi-translucent stone of mottled rich green color, the base inscribed with a Qianlong four-character mark
    10 7/8 in. (27.6 cm.) across handles, intricate inlaid wood stand

    Compare the nearly identical carving of the petal tip designs separating each lobe of the present lot with those found on a Mughal- style white jade bowl, dated to the Qing dynasty, in the collection of the National Palace Museum, illustrated in Exquisite Beauty - Islamic Jades, Taipei, 2007, p. 207, no. 254.
