This advertising vehicle for the engraving skill of jeweler and watchmaker I.H. Gardner may be dated to 1876, as it depicts American Centennial imagery including Lady Liberty, an American Indian, and the Tiffany & Co. swan centerpiece. The centerpiece was exhibited to great acclaim at the Philadelphia exhibition, and is now in the collection of Rough Point, Newport, the residence of the late Doris Duke. The centerpiece is illustrated in John Loring, Magnificent Tiffany Silver, 2001, illus. pp. 130-131.
