This guitar is one of 100 guitars produced by Fender as exact replicas of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Number One" - his main stage guitar throughout his career.
A team from Fender visited Jimmie Vaughan in Austin Texas in late 2003, to "dissect" his brother's guitar, and to record its every aspect - from measuring the output of each of the three single-coil pickups and the tension of their copper wire, to digitally weighing each piece of wood and hardware, to measuring the body and neck shapes and their contours, and to using calipers to measure every nick, scratch and wear mark on the guitar. The Fender team described this painstaking job as a Labor of love commenting ...Just about every guitarist today has been influenced by Stevie's playing in some way... adding ..it's an honor to be part of this project..
The stage-shot shows Stevie Ray Vaughan playing his Number One guitar on stage circa 1989.
