The birth of reference 5971P perpetual calendar chronograph in 2007 ended the reign of reference 5071G (see lot 3713) as the only haute joaillerie timepiece in Patek Philippe's stable of men's complicated watches. This sensational masterpiece stands out not only with its extreme technical sophistication but also the lavish embellishment of the finest of precious gemstones. It perfectly exemplifies the allure of exceptional quality diamonds in combination with the marvels of micromechanical engineering. The heart that beats inside is a gem in its own right - the legendary calibre CH 27-70 Q, an exclusive execution to Patek Philippe by Nouvelle Lémania. The ébauche is agreed by most watch aficionados to be one of the most beautiful classic manually-wound column-wheel chronograph mechanism ever created. Ref. 5971P certainly attests to the great talent and adeptness of the world's finest artisans, admirably sublimating the arts of haute horlogerie and haute joaillerie.
