    Portrayed frontal, full-length, raising the cross to his chest and holding prayer beads, his halo defined by two golden rims, wearing a gem-set Episcopal mitre, an opulent cape and an omophorion, the saint rendered realistically against a luminous background, the silver oklad decorated with rich repoussé foliate scrolls, the back of the panel covered with peach velvet, the latter matching the inside of the icon's wooden case
