    The Baptist shown frontal, half-length, with large outstretched wings and a punched halo, holding a staff with cruciform finial and carrying a golden platter with his decollated head, his face rendered delicately with earthen colours, his features emphasised with fine white brushstrokes, his brown dishevelled hair defined by wavy lines, the raiment of skins painted green, the saint's himation ochre with white folds, against a bright gold background, set in a wooden frame decorated with bold relief foliage, with red borders
