    THREE ENAMELED PORCELAIN SNUFF BOTTLES
    JINGDEZHEN KILNS, 1820-1949
    The first bottle, 1820-1870, is decorated on one side with a katydid. The second bottle, Hongxian seal mark and of the period (1915-1916), is decorated with five boys (wuzi) playing a ball game. The third bottle, 1870-1949, is decorated on one side with the knight 'Curly Whiskers' with his donkey, along with Li Jing and the courtesan Hongfu nu, below an inscription referencing the 'Three Heros of the Tang Dynasty,' and the reverse with a scene of a man carrying blossoming chrysanthemum plants below an inscription of a dedication from a nephew on the mother's side to his uncle. The narrow sides are decorated in underglaze blue with foliate bands, the base with an apocryphal Qianlong mark.
    1 5/8, 2 ¼ and 2 3/8 in. (4.1, 5.7 and 6 cm.) high, jadeite, agate and porcelain stoppers.
