    The initials are for Princess Louise, Marchioness of Lorne, later Duchess of Argyll (1848-1939), fourth daughter of Queen Victoria (1837-1901) and wife of John, Marquess of Lorne, later 9th Duke of Argyll (1845-1914). The inscription celebrates their silver wedding. (4)
