The 'Golden' or 'Crested' Service, as it is also known, comprises 666 pieces and was a present from Tsar Nicholas I (1796-1855) to his mother Maria Feodorovna (1759-1828) on 22 July 1827 for the Palace of Pavlovsk. Only 120 plates were painted with fruit, all with differing gilt border patterns. For pieces from this service at the Palace of Pavlovsk, see Galina Agarkowa and Natalija Petrowa, 250 Jahre Lomonossow Porzellanmanufaktur St. Petersburg 1744-1994 (St. Petersburg, 1994), pp. 56-57, and also Tamara Kudriavtseva, Das Weisse Gold der Zaren (Stuttgart, 2000), p. 184, no. 67.
