Warhol's first exhibition at Castelli Gallery was Flowers paintings. The iconic image is based on Patricia Caulfield's photograph of hibiscus flowers in Modern Photography. One of Warhol's few offset lithographs from the 1960s, these prints were intended as posters in the early years to accompany museum exhibitions and gallery openings.
