Lot Essay

Compare this with a tamboured example illustrated on page 43, 18th Century Costume in Museums of Liverpool, by Pauline Rushton. The underlying printed borders in Liverpool are applied, where they are un-cut in this example. The disposition of the tassels and swags on the pockets are almost identical. The two waistcoats may have been printed by the same workshop, but finished differently.
