Betsy Bloomingdale: A Life in Style
Christie’s is honored to announce it has been entrusted with the private collection, Betsy Bloomingdale: A Life in Style, with property to be offered across two sales, beginning with iconic pieces of her personal jewelry collection in December 2016, with a dedicated auction to follow in Spring 2017 at Christie’s New York.
Synonymous with style, glamor, philanthropy and Los Angeles society, the collection of Betsy Bloomingdale will be auctioned in two parts: Part I, a group of stunning Harry Winston jewels to be offered as a single owner section within the New York Magnificent Jewels sale, December 7, 2016 and Part II, a stand-alone sale featuring the contents of Mrs. Bloomingdale’s Hollywood Regency villa, one of the final remaining extant and complete commissions by designer William Haines, to be offered in Spring 2017.
The two auctions comprise approximately 300 lots of jewels, furniture, William Haines design, works of art, Chinese and European porcelain, pictures, and couture selections, and, combined, are expected to realize in excess of $3 million.
More details of the jewelry collection will be announced in the coming weeks. The complete sale catalogue will be available Spring 2017.
