Comprising 113 photographs, this sale will offer a group of Avant-Garde and Surrealist works. Alexander Rodchenko, László Moholy-Nagy and František Drtikol will stand alongside Constantin Brancusi, Raoul Ubac, Maurice Tabard, André Breton, Marcel Duchamp, Hans Bellmer, Álvarez Bravo and Claude Cahun. The sale will offer eight prints by Man Ray including the first version of Primat de la matière sur la pensée, a variant of which was sold for a world record price of €661,000 at Christie’s Paris last year. Two exceptional prints signed by Gustave Le Gray which were rediscovered this summer (La vague brisée and Le hêtre) and a group of Russian photographs will also be presented. A further highlight is the personal collection of the French writer, poet, art critic and photographer Bernard Lamarche-Vadel including works by Lee Friedlander, Josef Sudek, Carlton E. Watkins and Lewis Baltz.
