Christie’s sale of Arts of Islam totaled £1,165,738 / $1,884,998 / €1,447,847
Romain Pingannaud, Head of Department, Christie’s South Kensington commented: “A very busy saleroom in the morning saw extremely strong competition for Islamic manuscripts, particularly those from the Ottoman world. There was active bidding across all categories with a renewed interest in medieval ceramics and strong results for arms and armour. We are pleased that the sale attracted a number of new buyers, two of whom bought two of the top three lots.”
