Discover the Hong Kong Spring Auctions 2018

Our week of exceptional sales at Christie’s Hong Kong brings together masterworks across Chinese works of art and paintings, Asian 20th-century and contemporary art and jewels, watches, wine and handbags

From 25-30 May, Christie’s will celebrate a week of art and luxury through a series of 18 spectacular auctions at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

An exciting line-up of works by renowned contemporary Asian masters such as Zao Wou-Ki, Wu Guanzhong and Yayoi Kusama will sit alongside Western blue-chip names Jean-Michel Basquiat, George Condo and Anish Kapoor.

The many standouts this Spring also include a magnificent blue and white moonflask from the Qianlong period (1736-1795). The moonflask is one of the largest in existence and was commissioned by Emperor Qianlong himself during his reign.

The week will also showcase the historic tradition of painting in China with works that span the classical, modern and contemporary era. The Chinese Contemporary Ink  auction on 28 May, will feature Play of Mountain and Cloud  by Liu Kuo-Song from 1932, which combines the artist’s technical mastery and an experimental use of materials to interpret his experience of Tibet.

A highlight from the Magnificent Jewels  auction on 29 May, meanwhile, is an exclusive coloured diamond bracelet by Edmond Chin for the House of Boghossian. The precious jewel is a reimagining of an ancient manuscript and required an immense amount of technical knowledge to translate its complex design into a soft and flexible bracelet.

Christie’s Spring 2018 auctions take place between 25 and 30 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
