This print is number 4 from the sold-out edition of 5 + 2 AP.

In this portrait of contemporary Mongolians, Tronvoll presents the subjects straight to the camera in their native landscape. The viewer's eye is drawn to the details of clothing, their expressions and the majestic Mongolian steppe stretching out in the background. This method, akin to traditional portrait studio shots, avoids an obvious narrative and compels the viewer to scan and observe the available details for meaning.

Tronvoll earned her BFA in Photography at Parsons School of Design, New York. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is held in a number of private and institutional collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The National Museum of Photography, Copenhagen; and Norsk Museum for Fotografi -- Preus Fotomuseum, Norway. She lives and works in Oslo, Norway.
