Lot Essay

This flower painting is an early work and was shown at her first group exhibition, at the Parke-Bernet Galleries, New York in 1956.

The artist studied in Tokyo and moved to France in 1951. She exhibited frequently in France from 1956 in group shows as well as independently and in numerous international exhibitions, particularly in the 1950s and 60s. She had one-person exhibitions at the National Museum of Modern Art, Seoul, in 1970, 1978 and 1988; Gallery Hyundai, Seoul, in 1985 and 1986.
