This detail shows one of the outer walls of the Hathor Temple within the Dendera Temple complex, located about 2.5km south-east of Dendera. It is one of the best preserved complexes in Egypt and covers around 40,000 square metres. The main temple at Dendera is the grandest and most elaborately decorated of its period, with depictions of Cleopatra VI that are prominent examples of Ptolemaic Egyptian art. The temple at Dendera is very similar in structure and decoration to the Philae Temple at Aswan.
