Each with moulded, caned back à échancrure centrale with floret cresting, above caned seat with floral-carved front-rails, the conforming cabriole legs terminating in scrolls, the rails of one marked '6' the other '12', both stamped 'I-B.CRESSON'

Lot Essay

The Cressons were a family of Menuisiers operating from premises in the rue de Clry, Paris. The first member of the dynasty to become matre was Charles Cresson in 1720; the last being his great nephew Nicolas Michel Cresson in 1770 (Pierre Kjellberg, Le Mobillier Franais du XVIII Sicle, Paris, 2002, pp. 230-241).
