“It was one of the proudest moments in my long career when we cut the ribbon at the Ampire Building, our superb new home in the historic Bund district in Shanghai this week. The building is so very Christie’s, a wonderful combination of the old and the new. To complete the week with such successful sales was a further excitement. Quality, rarity and beauty were what collectors wished for today and we saw competition throughout the sale from a broad audience including for the diamond brooch designed by Boucheron, as well as strong prices in the other sections of the sale, wine, watches and vintage accessories. Our specialist teams continue to curate sales to appeal to both Chinese and global clients, and we continue to see new buyers joining our established collectors, commented François Curiel, Chairman of Christie’s Asia Pacific.
