ANNOUNCEMENT: Christie's appoints Cathy Busch Managing Director of Chicago

New York/Chicago – Christie’s is pleased to announce Cathy Busch has been appointed Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Christie’s Chicago.  In this role, Ms. Busch will oversee the company’s growth strategy and client engagement in the Midwestern region as Christie’s looks to expand sourcing and buying activity across this important domestic market.

A veteran of the auction industry, Ms. Busch spent fifteen years serving the Midwest region in various capacities at Sotheby’s in Chicago, including Vice President and Director.  Most recently, Ms. Busch served as President of Branca, Inc., a leading residential design firm with offices in Chicago and New York.  Before embarking on a career in art and design, Ms. Busch served as Press Secretary and Director of Public Affairs for President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan in Los Angeles, following her service in the White House.

Brook Hazelton, Christie’s President for the Americas, commented, “Chicago and the Midwest region have vibrant collecting communities and Cathy brings a fresh perspective to serving clients in these important markets.  We look forward to stepping up our engagement in the region, in an effort to attract established and new participants alike.”

At Christie’s Chicago, Ms. Busch will work closely with Steve Zick, Senior Vice President from the region’s main office at the John Hancock Center, 875 North Michigan Avenue. Together, their client coverage spans 13 states, stretching west to include Nebraska and the Dakotas and east to include Ohio.

Ms. Busch’s appointment continues Christie’s long-standing advisory presence in the Midwestern region. She succeeds Lisa Cavanaugh, who is retiring from Christie’s after a highly successful 30-year career during which she was managing director of Christie’s Chicago and Houston offices.

Ms. Busch graduated from Miami University, Ohio with a B.A. in English Literature.  She has served on charitable and cultural boards including the Woman’s Boards of the Art Institute of Chicago, the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation, and the Field Museum of Natural History; the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Board of Trustees, and has assumed numerous leadership positions at the Chicago Botanic Garden over the years.  She lives in Winnetka with her husband and children.
