NEW YORK – Christie’s is pleased to announce a five-month gallery residency in Palm Beach located on the historic Worth Avenue during the area’s vibrant winter calendar. Opening on 30 November 2021 through 30 April 2022, Christie’s will showcase a wide-ranging selection of fine art and luxury objects in a series of curated exhibitions featuring auction highlights as well as Private Sale works available for immediate purchase.
Christie’s Palm Beach inaugural exhibition Fernando Botero: Joy of Life opens on 30 November through 18 December and features a fantastic selection of paintings, sculpture and works on paper by the Colombian master available for immediate purchase, as well as highlights that will be featured in the spring sale of Latin American art.
With an international career spanning over six decades, Fernando Botero remains one of the most enigmatic and sought after artists of his generation, continuing to elaborate a highly distinct style that blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction. Characterized by his ubiquitous rotund figures and subjects, Botero’s art reflects a keen and witty approach to the history of art and visual representation. Throughout his remarkable career, Fernando Botero depicts a vision of the world that is at once familiar, uncanny, and replete with a baroque sense of exuberance and joie de vivre.
“Our winter-long residency in Palm Beach continues an exciting series of regional client events Christie’s has launched across the United States. Most importantly, it deepens our connection in the vibrant collecting community of Palm Beach,” comments Bonnie Brennan, Christie’s President, Americas. “The full array of Christie’s bespoke collecting services are available to our clients in the region. We are very excited to have a local presence on the iconic Worth Avenue.”
Christie’s gallery is located at 249 Worth Avenue, Palm Beach, and will be open 11am - 5pm Tuesday through Saturday from 30 November 2021 through 30 April 2022.
Christie’s is pleased to be a sponsor of New Wave Art Wknd 2021 and participate in the New Wave Gallery Open House Event Saturday, 4 December 2021 with Public Hours: 2pm – 5pm.
