Comment: India Phillips, Specialist said:

“Today’s sale of Impressionist and Modern Art was well received by an exciting mix of bidders with a large number on the telephones as well as a packed saleroom. Once again an increased presence of online buyers, originating from Abu Dhabi to Arizona, took part in the sale, with Christie’s LIVE proving a popular bidding channel for those unable to travel.

We were particularly excited by the very successful sale of our cover lot, Henri Hayden’s Composition cubiste, which attracted vast interest from both private and trade buyers, and sold for £75,650. The Hungarian piece by Sandor Bortnyik, Figuren, was the top lots of the sale, greatly exceeding the high estimate to sell for £105,650, following frenzied bidding from Hungarian buyers.”
