IMPRESSIONISM/MODERN & PICASSO CERAMICS
AT CHRISTIE’S SOUTH KENSINGTON THIS FEBRUARY
South Kensington – Christie’s Impressionist and Modern art week includes the South Kensington sale Impressionist and Modern Art & Picasso Ceramics on 6 February 2015. The auction comprises Impressionist, Modern and Surreal works of art including paintings, tapestries and ceramics with highlights by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Bernard Buffet and Camille Bombois amongst others. With prices starting from £500, Impressionist and Modern Art & Picasso Ceramics presents attractive opportunities for new and established collectors to acquire artworks by some of the leading artists of the 20th century.
The highly anticipated section of 71 unique and editioned ceramics by Pablo Picasso offered in the auction is expected to attract considerable interest following the success of the most recent online-only Picasso Ceramics sale, which achieved a 100% sell-through rate. Highlights include two exceptional ceramics both from very small editions: Grande tête de femme au chapeau orné (A.R. 518), a terracotta plaque executed in a numbered edition of 50 (estimate: £30,000-50,000), and Oiseaux et Poissons (A.R. 291), a ceramic vase conceived in 1955 and executed in a numbered edition of 25 (estimate: £40,000-60,000). The full sale exhibition will be on view at Christie’s South Kensington from 31 January to 5 February.
