This Fall, our Design auction features iconic sculptural furniture and lighting from the past century – spanning the Viennese Secessionists to Post-War and Contemporary Design.
From the Collection of Bannon and Barnabas McHenry, unique designs for the Central Park Zoo by Claude Lalanne and François-Xavier Lalanne offer a rare glimpse into the artists’ creative process. Claude’s celebrated jewelry and François-Xavier’s revered Mouton Transhumant round out a lifetime of collecting by the McHenry family.
A group of iconic early design from a Distinguished Private Collector (An Enquiring Eye: Property from a Distinguished Private Collector) includes lighting by Josef Hoffmann, and additional furniture designs by Josef Urban and Otto Wagner.
Post-War French design by Jean Prouvé, Serge Mouille and Jean Royère—including a rare set of twelve dining chairs from the Edlis | Neeson Collection demonstrates the evolution in design through to the mid 20th-century.
Standout works by British ceramicists Lucie Rie and Hans Coper from The Collection of Robert F. and Patricia G. Ross Weis lead an exemplary group of studio pottery. Additional offerings include works by Jun Kaneko from Elaine: The Collection of Elaine Wynn.
Italian design by Gio Ponti, Carlo Mollino, Piero Fornasetti and more, together with Scandinavian design by Poul Henningsen, celebrate the international acclaim of 20th century architecture and design.
