A Visual Odyssey

Selections from LAC (Lambert Art Collection) Staged by Jacques Grange

London, 14 October 2015, 10:30am

In a bold new collaboration with de Pury, A Visual Odyssey: Selections from LAC (Lambert Art Collection) presents more than 300 objects, spanning eight different categories, across three different centuries and with estimates that range from just £20 up to £3 million.

The democratic and contemporary spirit of the Lambert Art Collection is a testament to a pioneering collecting vision of Baroness Marion Lambert and her late husband Baron Philippe Lambert. Featuring works by giants of contemporary art such as Christopher Wool, Ugo Rondinone and Mark Bradford, photography from Henri Cartier-Bresson and Erwin Blumenfeld through to Cindy Sherman and Andreas Gursky, and furniture spanning a Louis XV ebony bureau plat and cartonnier, a 1920s screen by Jean Dunand and a late 1980s desk and chairs by Donald Judd, each item testifies to the same exacting eye and flair for collecting across the ages.

The auction will be presented as an ambitious exhibition conceived by acclaimed designer Jacques Grange, on view from the 3 October at Ely House in London, and via a radical new online experience which will deliver rich content, stunning photography and artist videos. The sale takes place at 10:30am on 14 October at Christie’s King St, London as part of the Frieze week auctions at Christie’s and will be presented on both the de Pury and Christie’s websites.
