About Friends of Acadia

Protecting one of Earth’s most magnificent places

Friends of Acadia preserves, protects, and promotes stewardship of the outstanding natural beauty, ecological vitality, and distinctive cultural resources of Acadia National Park and surrounding communities for the inspiration and enjoyment of current and future generations.

We are an independent organization of passionate people, inspiring those who love this magnificent place to make a real and lasting difference for Acadia.

Greening Acadia: Advancing Sustainability in the Park

This newly established fund will contribute to projects, equipment, and capital improvements to reduce carbon footprint and emissions across the park. Installing solar panels on park buildings and electric vehicle charging stations at strategic locations and replacing vehicles and equipment with electric or more fuel-efficient options will allow for Acadia to operate sustainability over time – both environmentally and financially.
