Modern and Contemporary Art: Amsterdam

Online, 11–27 May

This spring, Christie’s Amsterdam presents two online sales of modern and contemporary art.

The Curator's Eye: The Collection of Professor Dr Karin von Maur (11–25 May) is a celebration of this esteemed historian and curator. One of the most important cultural voices of her generation, Karin von Maur played a pivotal role in shaping the art scene of her native Germany, and remains a leading connoisseur in her field. Rich in breadth and deep in scope, the sale includes works by German artists — from Oskar Schlemmer, Peter Roehr and Joseph Beuys to Hannah Höch and Daniel Richter — alongside international figures such as Alighiero Boetti, Alexander Calder and Roman Opałka.

Post-War and Contemporary Art Amsterdam (13–27 May) spans the entire post-war era, offering works on paper, paintings and sculpture. The sale is headlined by a strong selection of works by ZERO artists, including Otto Piene and Günther Uecker, and contemporary names such as Matthias Weischer, A. R. Penck, Marina Abramović and Albert Oehlen. Other highlights include works by Thomas Schutte, Christian Jankowski and Sterling Ruby to benefit tinyBE.

Preview highlights from both sales at Christie’s Amsterdam from 11-27 May, by appointment only.
