20th Century Week at Christie’s London brings together works by some of the biggest names in Impressionist, Modern and Post-War and Contemporary Art, offered across nine auctions this February and March.

Impressionist and Modern Art highlights for the season include Hidden Treasures – the most important single-owner collection of Impressionist and Modern Art to be offered in London for a decade – with masterpieces by Cézanne, Matisse, Monet, Bonnard and Renoir, whilst The Art of the Surreal sale features a rare, large and iconic work by René Magritte, Le lieu commun, never before seen at auction.

This season sees our Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening and Day Auctions joined by our second Masterpieces of Design and Photography auction, placing iconic pieces from these two categories side by side.

David Hockney’s majestic Henry Geldzahler and Christopher Scott, one of the most important paintings in the artist’s legendary series of double portraits, leads the Evening Auction alongside works by Peter Doig, Nicolas de Staël, Adrian Ghenie, Hurvin Anderson and Albert Oehlen.

Following the success of our first edition of the auction in 2017, Masterpieces of Design and Photography returns this March, pairing cutting edge design with some of the most iconic photography produced in the 20th century. A stunning Joris Laarman Bone Chair sits alongside Marc Newson’s ground-breaking Oregone Stretch Lounge, while exceptionally rare prints by artists ranging from El Lissitzky to Diane Arbus and Thomas Struth feature in the auction’s photographs section.

Preview works during the global tours in New York, Hong Kong and Los Angeles from 19 January, or visit the full view at our King Street galleries, on display from 21 February to 7 March.
