This November, Christie’s will offer a group of artworks sold in benefit non-profit contemporary art organization LAXART in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale. The group includes works by contemporary stars Glenn Ligon, Jonas Wood. Barbara Kruger, Arthur Jafa, Jacqueline Humphries, and Christina Quarles.

About the organisation

LAXART

Located in the heart of Los Angeles, LAXART is a non-profit visual art space that promotes artistic development in contemporary culture through exhibitions, publications, and public programs. Their free and dedicated programs are designed to be accessible to the public, with the goal of contextualizing contemporary art both socially and historically. A key presence in the art scene, LAXART has partnered with local institutions including the J. Paul Getty Museum, the Hammer Museum, Frieze Art Fair, Art Basel, The Huntington Museum, Artadia, The French Embassy, and the L.A. Dance Project. It is a space of reflection and exchange, actively engaging with contemporary artists both within LA and California, as well as on a national and international level. The carefully curated exhibition programming of LAXART thematically reflects the principle that contemporary art is a means to respond to current issues. LAXART aims to nurture the careers of emerging artists, offering the arts community with a safe and open place to address concerns or challenges. The organization is committed to creating an equitable space for cultural discourse.
