Online, 1–17 September 2020

This September, Christie’s Private and Iconic Collections Department will offer the exquisite collection of the media-industry titan and philanthropist A. Jerrold Perenchio. Through the two concurrent online auctions, experience the furniture and works of art that entertained dignitaries, musicians, politicians and Hollywood luminaries at Perenchio’s Chartwell Estate. The Sumner Spaulding designed château-style home was filled with an unconventional yet intentional blending of antique and modern. Chartwell’s interiors were the result of a collaboration with the French designer Henri Samuel who oversaw acquisitions from the best dealers in London and Paris. Highlights include Louis XVI furniture by cabinetmakers Felix Leroy, Jean-François Leleu and Nicolas Heurtaut; Chinese works of art of the 18th century; silver services by Puiforcat, Christofle and Buccellati; rare 18th century carpets and tailored soft furnishings designed by Henri Samuel for the Chartwell Estate.

Bidding for both sales begins 1 September.
