Craven’s work balances observation with abstraction, capturing both the physical presence and the symbolic resonance of her subjects. Her approach frequently involves repainting and revisiting individual motifs, producing series that reflect an ongoing engagement with form, colour and composition. Through this method, she transforms familiar subjects into objects of contemplation, inviting viewers to consider the interplay between perception, emotion and the natural world.
Her paintings have been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, with solo shows at institutions including the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine, Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick, Maine, and the Portland Museum of Art. Craven’s works are held in major collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, the Portland Museum of Art and the SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia.
