Sale Overview

Christie’s 20th/21st Century auction in Amsterdam brings together an exciting selection of works by leading international artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. CoBrA works by Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, and Constant, are offered alongside Zero works by Jan Schoonhoven, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, and Günther Uecker, as well as works of the German enfants terribles including Albert Oehlen, Markus Oehlen, Werner Büttner, Georg Herold, Martin Kippenberger, and Günther Förg.

We are currently inviting consignments to this auction. In addition to the artists listed above, we are seeking works by Marlene Dumas, René Daniëls, Geer van Velde, Pierre Alechinsky, Sam Francis, A. R. Penck, Daniel Richter, Nan Goldin, Francis Alÿs, Shara Hughes, and Yayoi Kusama, among others.

Elvira Jansen is a Specialist in the Post-War & Contemporary Art department in Amsterdam, and is Head of Sale of Sale for the Amsterdam auction since 2019. After internships at Christie’s Amsterdam in 19th Century Art and Post-War & Contemporary Art, Elvira started as cataloguer in the Post-War & Contemporary Art department in 2011. Elvira holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours from University College Utrecht in History and History of Art, and she received a Master of Arts degree from the Universiteit van Amsterdam in History of Art (post 1850).
