This September, Christie’s presents the 20th Century Day Sale, an exceptional assembly of modern works that illuminate the rich dialogue between Eastern and Western artistic discourses.
Highlighting the auction are seminal works by visionary artists: Kazuo Shiraga’s viscerally dynamic T 51 (1962), Zao Wou-Ki’s poetically layered Petit pont et l’eau coule (1955) and Chu Teh-Chun’s lyrically infused Sans Titre (1981). The selection further embraces Wu Guanzhong’s culturally resonant A Small Town in the Water Country (1990) alongside defining works by modern titans — Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Bernard Buffet and Raoul Dufy.
Broadening its cultural scope, the sale spotlights post-war luminaries such as Korean pioneers Kim Tschang-Yeul and Lee Ufan, alongside Southeast Asian modernists Mai Trung Thu, Fernando Zóbel and Le Pho. This season also welcomes a debut presentation of works by Italian conceptualist Alighiero Boetti and British female modernist Barbara Hepworth in our Hong Kong saleroom.
We are now accepting consignments to this prestigious auction. Should you wish to explore the value of your collection, contact our specialists — we are here to assist.
