Fine & Rare Wines & Spirits Online: London Edition

Fine & Rare Wines & Spirits Online: London Edition

Sale Overview

Christie’s London presents Fine and Rare Wines & Spirits Online: London Edition, a special summer auction of the world’s finest and most interesting wines and spirits.

A magnificent Whisky Collection from a French Townhouse is featured, led by The Yamazaki 25 Year Old and Hibiki 30 Year Old. Scotch is offered from The Macallan, Port Ellen, Dalmore, Glenmorangie, Glenfiddich and The Balvenie.

Romano Levi’s grappa occupies a unique place in the world of distilled spirits, celebrated both for its rarity and the deeply artisanal approach that defines its production. We are thrilled to present an extraordinary collection of over 100 bottles of this exceptionally rare spirit. Every bottle is hand illustrated by the late Romano Levi and the offering even includes the ultra-hard-to-find herb flavoured bottles.

Ancient spirits come in the form of 19th and 20th century bottles of Cognac, Armagnac and Calvados from a French cellar. The trove of early 20th century Calvados from Groult and Camus is particularly compelling.

Christie’s are delighted to offer the final numbered edition (0/12) artist proof set of the Dictador Freedom Icon Collection. 12 bottles of exceptional 34-year old Dictador rum each distilled in a different month of 1989 created with Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Walesa as a tribute to the year that changed the course of history. Also included is a private dinner with Lech Walesa in Gdansk, Poland.

A special group of Henri Jayer wines from an esteemed collector are star lots of the sale. From the Jayer Domaine direct auction we are delighted to present a unique magnum of Cros Parantoux 2001 (Jayer’s last vintage), in immaculate condition. Bottles of Cros Parantoux 1995 and Jayer’s heavenly Echézeaux 1996, in original cases are offered.

A London Townhouse Cellar is a treasure trove of rare duty-paid wines. Bottles of Domaine Rousseau appear, from 1985 Chambertin to 1993 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze and 1995 Clos de la Roche. This excepitional selection continues with Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1999 and rare Rhône wines Chave, Hermitage 1985 and 1995 alongside the inaugural 1978 vintage of Guigal’s Côte-Rôtie La Landonne.

The Cellar on the Links is a glorious collection of wine from a huge cellar in a Victorian house next to a famous golf course. White Burgundy is a lovely theme here with Lafon and Sauzet as particular highlights. Domaine Leroy, Gevrey-Chambertin Les Combettes 1989 is a notable wine from this cellar, as is Krug 1985, Château Haut-Brion 2001 and Château Margaux 1986 in magnum. Large formats of Shafer, Ridge and Saffredi complete the collection.

Elsewhere the sale features deep parcels of Château Haut-Brion 2000 in bottles and magnums, Château Margaux 2003 in cases, cases of Ramonet, Marc Colin and Bachelet Grand Crus. Rare offerings of Le Pergole Torte, Rinaldi and a Chapoutier double-magnum also feature.
